The methods to treat string or suspended algae blooms are diverse and wide ranging. The easiest method is to rob the algae of its food source - nitrates and phosphates - by adding organisms, such as beneficial bacteria and plants, that will compete with the algae for these nutrients. Sometimes the notoriously tenacious algae needs some more direct treatment. That's why we also carry barley straw products, algaecides and water dyes. Remember, our staff have years of experience helping people keep their ponds clear and free of green, so call or email us to find the right treatment for your pond. No pond is the same, though, and factors including climate, region, run-off, pets/animals and many other can all contribute to algae growth. Patience is required in finding the right treatment pattern for a problem pond, but everyone can have a clear green-free water garden.
