Direct Drive Pumps

Direct drive operation means no magnets - rotor shaft extends through a waterproof seal, attaching directly to the impeller. Energy efficient pond pumps designed for medium-head to high-head high-volume pond circulation and effective filtration. These corrosion-resistant and energy efficient workhorses operate fully submersed, with easy to clean screen to protect motor from debris. One-year or two-year warranty depending on model (noted in the specifications for each model).

Submersible pond pumps can be placed directly in the pond and require relatively little installation. They are free of distracting noise, and for smaller ponds, can easily be utilized to drain your pond (if you hook up a hose to the output flow). These pumps are often used inside pond skimmer boxes where they are out of sight. In this application they generally feed a waterfall type filter as it flows back to the pond providing aeration and water circulation.

Submersible Pond Pumps are sized by gallons per hour (GPH) output . Read the flow chart for each pump to see performance at various head pressures.

Flow rates range from 1900 GPH to as high as 13,000GPH. Generally, the ideal pump will circulate the total volume of a fish pond at least once per hour. For example, if you pond is 2000 gallons, you would want to go with at least a 2000 GPH pump.

Be sure to check the cord length when choosing a submersible pond pump to ensure that it will reach your electric outlet with a ground fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).

The submersible pump may be pulled from the water occasionally to clean its pre-filter or screen.

The unobtrusiveness of submersible pond pumps allows them to be used in pond designs that incorporate more natural settings, as you do not have to hide or camouflage the pump. Submersible pond pumps also run quietly and will not disturb any outdoor activities.
